Tarrytown, NY, March 12, 2010 – IDQ, parent company of the Interdynamics and Quest brands of auto air-conditioning products has become the first manufacturer to receive certification from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to sell small containers of automotive refrigerant in California.
Under new California guidelines signed into law in January 2009, any manufacturer or marketer of “small cans” of refrigerant must be certified by CARB in order to sell product in the state. The certification requirements include compliant containers with self-sealing valves, new consumer usage instructions, and an approved used can deposit & recycling program. The regulation allows for a “grandfathering” period for product produced prior to January 1, 2010.
IDQ’s certification was made official by the CARB Executive Order signed on March 9, 2010 and covers many of the Interdynamics™, Quest™, Arctic Freeze®, EZ Chill® and Sub-Zero® brands of refrigerant products. . According to CEO Michael Klein: “IDQ’s certification is the culmination of three-plus years work, collaborating with CARB, California lawmakers, retailers, consumer groups, environmentalists and industry associations like the Automotive Refrigerant Products Institute (ARPI) and the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA). We look forward to continuing to provide A/C solutions to California “do-it-yourselfers” and our retail partners”. __________________________________________________________________________
